Can you make out the first word in the name of the recipe?
From a box sold in Nampa, Idaho.

2 c. butter
2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
5 c. flour
3 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. rolled oats
2 c. flaked coconut
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped nuts
Cream butter until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar and sugar and beat until well blended; beat in eggs, one at a time.
Sift together flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt.
Add flour mixture to butter mixture, one cup at a time. Stir in oats, coconut, raisins, and nuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoon three inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 deg. until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Cool and store in airtight container.
Makes about 10 dozen.

I believe you are right… the “a” in other words tends to drift upwards when connecting to other letters such as ‘c” or “k”
The Women’s Army School (long known as WACS) would have been designated as such.
I’m with Kay. When you compare the r’s in the recipe it appears to be WORS.

Yes that’s what I see too. Could he’d child’s name been Warren & she shortened it to War’s school. I do that w mine too. I think if it was initials she would of wrote all letters seperate instead of 1 word. Hope they figured it out. 🙂 Special recipe & similar to the older version of Quaker oatmeal raisin cookies. They’ve since changed recipe & it just isn’t as great as the original 80’s version.

Wois I’m thinking. Look how she carries the ‘o’ over to connect to the next letter mid word – like in coconut, and cinnamon in the instruction portion. Same with the ‘i’ in the word ‘stir’.

Woss, also commonly known as Woss Lake after the nearby lake of the same name, is a small village in the Nimpkish Valley, located 75 km (47 mi) southeast of Port McNeill and 128 km (80 mi) north of Campbell River on Highway 19, in northeastern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The first word is Wars if you look at it really close magnified you can tell the first letter is a W wri%en the way my mother inlaw wrote and if you look at the ingriedents like sugar the a is written the same as the first word in the title of what the recipe is its Wars School Oatmeal Cookies
By looking at the other hand writing in the recipe….I come up with.. mars….the rs look the same and so does the letters ms..as and ss…that’s what I come up with….

The first word is NORS-National Outbreak Reporting System. It is a food cook train jk by program highly used before the 1980’s by school cafeteria staff on preventing salmonella. They also would provide recipes to schools that had a lower possibilities of cross contamination.

Histories quoted gives likelihood to couple suggestion. Assume you’ve approached local universities seeking assistance deciphering/ analyzing word.
