Orange Cake

If a creamsicle were a cake, it’d be this one.

From a box sold in East Moline, Illinois.

Orange Cake

2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 small cans mandarin oranges, drained
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Nuts, if desired.

Mix until soupy. Bake at 350 deg. (30-35 minutes).

1/2 c. brown sugar
6 Tbsp. butter
6 Tbsp. milk

Cook till boils. Pour over hot cake. Prick with fork. Work back from sides.

9 x 13 pan

So is there no oil or butter needed in this recipe?

    • That’s correct–I’ll add it to the post shortly but I verified the recipe matches what was published in the Sept. 1, 1981 The (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) Gazette and May 16, 1979 The (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) Argus-Leader.
