Another spritz cookie.

From a box sold in River Forest, Illinois.

Christmas Trees

1 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2-1/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. almond extract

Green vegetable coloring.

  1. Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually.
  2. Add unbeaten egg, sifted dry ingredients, flavoring, and a few drops of vegetable coloring. Mix well.
  3. Fill a Mirro Cooky press. Form cookies on ungreased Mirro cooky sheets using tree plate.

Decorate with tiny candles.

Yields 6 dozen.

Time: 10 – 12 min.
400 deg. F.
