On a Sears receipt from 1969. I’m guessing that “syrup” refers to corn syrup, and “peppermint” is peppermint extract.
From the box of L.S. of Joplin, Missouri.
1-1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk and 4 drops red [food coloring]
1 tsp. syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. peppermint
2-1/2 c. walnuts
Mix first four ingredients in saucepan. Cook to soft ball, 238 deg.
Add rest and stir till creamy.
Quickly turn out on waxed paper and separate with a fork.
