Technically, it does tick all the boxes for goulash.
A family recipe provided by Jennifer Kiel of Washington, DC.
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 clove garlic chopped
1/4 cup flour
2 1/2 cups tomato juice or 2 cans (8 oz.) tomato sauce
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 can sliced mushrooms, drained (optional)
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 8oz. package noodles
Cook noodles; drain.
In large skillet, brown meat; add onion, green pepper and celery. Cook until tender.
Stir in flour. Add tomato juice, soy sauce and mushrooms. Add thyme and simmer 5 minutes. Serve over noodles.
