Fortunately, the same recipe (using butter) appeared in the August 27, 1963 Burlington (North Carolina) Daily Times-News:

Peanut Butter Drops

1/2 cup cream-style peanut butter
16 large marshmallows
1/4 cup butter or margarine
3 Tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup coarsely chopped peanuts
1 cup quick rolled oats, uncooked

Melt peanut butter, marshmallows, butter, and milk in covered double boiler; stir occasionally. Add vanilla, peanuts, and oats, blending well. Drop by teaspoonful onto waxed paper, then store in refrigerator.

From the box of F.J. from Sun City, Arizona. Some cards suggest a family history in Missouri and Kansas.
