Gum Drop Cookies

From Christmas 1968.

From the box of L.S. from Joplin, Missouri.

Gum Drop Cookies

4 eggs
2 c. brown sugar
2 T. water
2 c. flour
Salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. gum drops–cut fine (omit licorice)

Beat eggs–add sugar and water.

Sift flour with cinnamon and salt.

Add flour to salt and cinnamon [then to] to egg and sugar mixture.

Fold in gum drops.

Grease pan real thick–flour and spread batter thin.

Bake in slow oven 30 minutes. 300-325 deg.

Frosting:

2 tsp. orange juice
3 tsp. butter (melted)

Powdered sugar to thicken. Spread on while cookies are hot–then cut.
