Seven-Minute Frosting

“Cold (hydrant) water.” Is hydrant a measure of cold? I really, really hope that’s a measure of cold and not an origin.

From a box sold in San Antonio, Texas.

7 Minute Frosting

2 egg whites
1-1/2 c. sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup or 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 cup cold (hydrant) water
Dash of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Place all ingredients, except vanilla, in a double boiler. Mix thoroughly.

Cook, beating constantly, until mixture forms peaks. Remove from heat.

Add vanilla; beat ’til of right consistency to spread.
